Solanum nigrum, a plant used in traditional medicine for centuries, has been found to possess a range of phytochemicals with potential therapeutic benefits. The plant contains alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins, which have been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, and antioxidant activities. This review aims to summarize the current state of knowledge on the phytochemicals and pharmacological activities of Solanum nigrum, with a focus on its potential therapeutic applications. The plant has been traditionally used to treat various ailments, including fever, rheumatism, and skin conditions, and has been found to exhibit anticancer and anti-diabetic and neuroprotective effects.
